In a quick regularly scheduled meeting held on July 9, the Montpelier School Board continued their preparations for the upcoming school year by approving both some financial and personnel matters. Along with the approval of all financial statements and investments for June 2013, the board also approved tuition for special education students enrolling from other districts at $7000 per student per year with an additional $1000 each for speech or psychological services.

Regarding personnel, the board approved approved the addition of Karen Benner to the substitute teacher list for the 2013-14 school year. The following supplemental contracts for Entry Year Mentors for the 2013-14 school year were also approved for Cynthia Shoup, Lance Thorp, Stacy Guelde, Rosemary Dockery, Matthew Kaullen, Stephanie Friend, Lisa Tippin, Dawn Smith, Alysha Saneholtz, Nicole Manahan, Kacie Vitek, and Ann Kauffman. Supplemental contracts for Entry Year Teachers were approved for Kaylee Meyer, Leslieanne Wheeler, Shelby Schmersal, Garret Leininger, Jennifer Kustic, and Lester Orndorff. Lisa Tippin also had a supplemental contract approved as Entry Year District Mentor.
Aside from the approval of contracts the board also approved graduate hours for Blayne Bible for the 2013-14 school year as well as accepted the resignation of Jasmine Reyes effective the end of the 2012-13 school year.
Also approved during the meeting was a Resolution Adopting a Calamity Day Alternative Make-Up Plan, more commonly referred to as “blizzard bags”.
The board went into executive session for the purpose of discussion of the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of an employee or the investigation of charges or complaints against an employee, official, licensee, or student. No action was taken upon the board’s return to open session and the meeting was adjourned.
