THE VILLAGE REPORTER

MAY 15TH, 2018: Tessa Rae Osterhout, a 2014 graduate of Delta High School, showed her love for animals today when instead of standing by, took action to rescue a family of ducklings stuck in a drain at Walmart in Bowling Green.

In a late afternoon interview with The Village Reporter, Osterhout stated, “Five ducklings were with the mama when they were struggling to get over the curb.  I helped them over and then noticed there were eight more babies down in the drain.”

“With the gracious help of Tom Sieving of (animal control), we were able to catch the mother and the five babies to keep them close with a net bought by Deb McDonald and her husband.  Everyone was so helpful and it was so amazing to see how many good people came together to lend a hand.”

“I was able to grab a couple babies out of the first drain, but the rest had gotten scared and started to move underground to the next.  With the help of Amos Towing, we were able to lift the top off of the second drain.”

“After an hour and a half, I finally was able to reach that eighth baby.  It was a struggle, but I was determined to get the mama her babies! The release was the most beautiful thing I have ever watched and it was definitely the best day ever.”

Osterhout, a proud Delta Panther graduate, is a Junior at Bowling Green State University where she is majoring in Communications while minoring in Marketing.
