EDON (June 20, 2025) – Briggs Gallehue’s run scoring single scored the go-ahead run in the fifth, and Edon tacked on another in the same inning, as the Bombers broke a 5-5 tie to take a 7-5 ACME win over Pettisville.

Early on Pettisville took a 2-0 first inning lead when Creighton Aeschliman and Ryan Bishop singled, and both rode home on Quinn Ripke’s double.

However, Edon came right back in the bottom of the first with three to take the lead against Ryan Bishop.

Corbin Chrisman led off with a single and one out later, Kendol Brigle’s hit and run single put runners at the corners.

Gallehue’s pop fly hit scored one run and then Bishop fell victim to what would be an issue all night long for both teams, a strike zone that was about as big as a McDonald’s junior cheeseburger, as he walked back-to-back hitters forcing in a run, with another scoring on a bounce out that put the Bombers on top.

After a third walk to start the second, Chrisman’s double and Brigle’s base hit plated two more Bomber tallies for a 5-2 lead.

Pettisville chopped the margin to 5-4 in the third when Sam Hastings singled up the middle, Korbin Olds walked Bishop and after a wild pitch, both came home when Rylee Bevard singled through the box.

The Blackbirds knotted the game an inning later. Aiden Crawford led off with a hit and a walk ended the night for Olds on the mound.

Chrisman came in to relieve and promptly struck out the next two hitters, but Jack Leppelmeier drilled a double to center that scored the tying run.

River Vajen went to the mound in the fifth for the Birds after Bishop issued another walk.

After the Pettisville righty walked the first hitter, Gallehue came up with the big hit to put Edon ahead and two batters later an infield error gave the Bombers an insurance run.

Chrisman tossed four innings in relief to get the win. The Bomber pitcher gave up two hits, both to Leppelmeier, walked one and struck out five.

Edon hosts Edgerton Monday while Pettisville travels to Wauseon Tuesday in games that will precede the ACME Districts that begin next weekend.
