On August 20th the Fayette Police Department notified the public that someone had stolen the flag flying at the cemetery.

A post on Facebook from the department states, “We are very sad to report that the American flag at the cemetery was attacked today and stolen.”

“Not only was OUR flag stolen, but the thief cut the rope to get it down. This is the same flag that flew over our veterans that are laid to rest in that cemetery.”

“We learned today that this was not the first time this has happened and occurred in February of this year.”

“If anyone has any information on who did this, please contact the Fayette Police Department at 419-237-2341. The flag was donated by the members of the Fayette VFW.”

So far, there has been no information received regarding who stole the flag. Members of the community have since donated a new flag for the cemetery as well.
