(Lifetime Archbold Area Resident)
Anna Rose Beck, better known as Ann, Mom, Grandma Ann and Aunt Annie passed from this earthly life to her heavenly home as a follower of Jesus on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at CHP – Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice, at the age of 94.
She was born May 13, 1930 in Wauseon, Oh and lived in the Archbold area all of her life.
She married Chauncey Beck September 24, 1948 and he passed away on October 25, 1996. They had 2 daughters, Nancy (Dan) Borton and Susan Mathews.
Besides her daughters, Ann is survived by 4 granddaughters Danielle (Mike) Childs Archbold OH, Autumn (Todd) Sackett Powell, OH, Olivia (Joel) Mark, Ostrander, OH, Tasha (Darin)Seiler, Archbold, OH., 10 great-grandchildren, Hudson Childs, Archbold, OH, Auburn Childs, Oklahoma City, OK, Braydan Sackett, Tampa, FL, Ivy and Maryn Sackett, Powell, OH, Cecilia and Lyla Mark, Ostrander, OH, Gavin Seiler, Bowling Green OH, Jayden Seiler, Adrian MI, Bronsyn Seiler, Archbold OH and Ashtyn (Gabriel) Mathews Valdez, Wauseon OH. 2 great great grandsons, Bryson and Braxton (Mathews) Weber.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by her son-in-law Donald Mathews, grandson Ryan Mathews, her parents Henry and Lillie Yedica, siblings Martha Costell, Dorothy Huner, Luella Alexander, Kenneth Yedica, Pauline Zuver and Shirley Wyse.
Ann was well known in Archbold as she worked at the Lugbill Auction Restaurant on sales days, Hess Shoe Store, Brookview Farms and for Dr. John Emch when he started his optometry practice in Archbold in 1976. She retired at the age of 77.
Ann loved Jesus, her family, Gospel music and hosting dinners for any and all occasions. She was always making friends and inviting them over to her home. She loved to cook and bake for her family and for others.
She served along with Eleanor Rychener teaching the 2-3 year old Sunday school class for many, many years. She also volunteered at the old Detwiler Hospital in Wauseon as a “cherry coat”.
Chauncey and Ann loved to vacation in Northern Michigan at Burt Lake where their family developed a love for the area as well. She will be missed by many who were the recipients of her deeds of kindness that sprung from a servants’ heart.
There will be a private family burial and service. Those of you who knew and loved Ann and her family are invited to a joyful celebration at Archbold Evangelical Church on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4 PM to 7PM. We will celebrate her life in “Ann Style” by serving coffee and her famous sugar cookies while we share memories of a life well lived.
