LUGBILL … Members from Lugbill Supply represented their company during the annual Archbold Area Chamber Golf scramble. The team had their picture taken at the Hip to the Grove hole, where they were asked to wear a woman’s hat, and or a piece of clothing, while they hit the ball. This would ensure they would receive one stroke off of their score. Pictured are Jon Kovnesky, Isaac Weber, Chamber Executive Director Wendy Gericke, Josh Unverferth, Robert Atkinson.

The Archbold Area Chamber of Commerce brought together golfers and community supporters on Friday, August 22nd, for its annual golf scramble at Ironwood Golf Course.

The event began at 10:00 a.m. and featured 22 teams who spent the day enjoying both the competition and the lighthearted atmosphere that has come to define the outing.

Chamber Executive Director Wendy Gericke said the event showed how much local support the Chamber continues to receive. “It’s a beautiful day, we’ve had a lot of great support, and the atmosphere is just fun.

“People are laughing as they come in from their holes, and that’s what it’s all about, community, fellowship, and support,” Gericke said.

The outing included a mix of traditional play and creative challenges sponsored by local businesses. At one hole, sponsored by Hip to the Groove, golfers had to put on a piece of women’s clothing before teeing off, with the reward of taking a stroke off their score.

A Plinko board, reminiscent of the classic television game show, gave players the chance to win prizes, while TJ Automation set up a party hole with games and giveaways.

Lugbill Supply also sponsored a “one ball” contest, giving each team a ball to keep in play throughout the day, with those who managed to finish with it entered for a drawing.

There was also a hole-in-one challenge on hole 13, where a perfect shot would earn a $25,000 prize. Gericke noted that the prize had been won in a past outing, proving it was possible.

Teams paid $320 to participate, and sponsorships came in at various levels, including major support from Sauders and F&M Bank.

The money raised will go toward chamber programs and its foundation, which funds projects such as scholarships, leadership development, and downtown beautification.

“It’s all about promoting our wonderful town and supporting efforts that make Archbold thrive,” Gericke explained.

With sunny skies, plenty of laughter, and strong backing from local sponsors, this year’s golf outing once again showed how Archbold comes together to support both its Chamber and the town’s future.
