A number of Fulton County track and field performers will be moving on to regional competition after qualifying from the Division IV district track meet held Wednesday, May 20 and Friday, May 22 at Fostoria and Findlay, respectively.
In the district meet at Fostoria, Swanton led the area contingent with a pair of individual girls’ district titles.
Audrey Robinson was one of two district champions for the Bulldogs as she captured the long jump crown with a leap of 16-4 ½. Lauren Bettinger claimed the 400-meter dash title with a time of 1:01.15.
Hallie Bryan of Evergreen finished runner-up in the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 13.03 seconds and qualified with a fourth-place finish in the 200 with a time of 27.51.
Her teammate Bella Henricks advanced with a third-place finish in the 100 hurdles in 16.45 seconds.
Also advancing were Delta’s Claire Bates, who finished runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 34-9 ¼, and Abby Savage, who qualified in two events, the 200 (27.31) and 400 (1:02.16), as she placed third in both events.
In the boys meet, Evergreen’s Will Ruetz qualified for regionals in four different events.
Ruetz finished runner-up in the 110 hurdles (15.32) and placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (41.34) and long jump (20-2 ½). He also led off the Vikings’ 400 relay team, which also consisted of Breyden Hoffman, Ethan Nash and Luke Woodring, to a runner-up finish in 43.57 seconds.
Hoffman also advanced with a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100 (11.16) and 200 (22.56) meter dashes.
Swanton advanced its 1600 relay team of Evan Reinhard, Brady Haselman, Charlie Meyer and Luke Bettinger as they grabbed the fourth and final regional qualifying spot with a time of 3:31.06.
Reinhard also qualified in the 400-meter dash with a fourth-place time of 52.16 seconds.
In the district meet at Findlay, Archbold was the lone area team competing as the Bluestreaks claimed a pair of girls’ district titles.
Hadley Hudson captured the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:23.76. The Bluestreaks’ 1600 relay of Madison Burkle, Aubree Hurst, Lydia Frey and Karly Kruse won with a time of 4:07.35.
Also advancing individually to regionals for the Bluestreaks were Emersyn Selgo, who was runner-up in the long jump (17-10). Irelyn Selgo was fourth in the high jump (4-10), and Jovie Hudson was fourth in the 3200 (12:11.89).
The Bluestreaks’ 400 relay of Evy Roth, Irelyn Selgo, Emersyn Selgo and Lydia Frey advanced with a third-place finish in 1:47.52. The 3200 relay of Brynn Hurst, Janae Murillo, Natalie Schmucker and Hadley Hudson placed fourth with a time of 10:09.67.
On the boys side, the 3200 relay of Jude Hudson, Trevor Osterland, Connor Plassman and Bo King were district runners-up with a time of 8:11.53.

Also advancing to regionals were Jude Hudson, who was third in the 1600 (4:30.85). Jesse Schumacher placed third in the shot put (47-11), and Colton Nofziger was fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.56).
The Division IV regional meet takes place on Wednesday and Friday, May 27-29 at Marion Harding High School. The top four individuals and relay teams will advance to the state meet.
