DIVISION II SECTIONAL FINALS

Bryan 3 Lima Shawnee 2

BRYAN – Kailee Thiel singled twice and drove in all three runs for Bryan as they avenged a loss to Shawnee in the district semifinals with a 3-2 win.

Addie Arnold went all seven innings for Bryan in the circle with five hits and 12 strikeouts.

No. 1 seed Bryan will now take on No. 4 Elida in the Division II district semifinals at the University of Northwest Ohio in Lima on Thursday, May 19th at 4pm.

Wauseon 9 Maumee 4

WAUSEON – Olivia Gigax put the Indians on the board with a two-run homer for the second straight night as Wauseon won their second consecutive sectional title with a 9-4 win over Maumee.

After Maumee had closed to within 7-4, Ava Kovar delivered a two out two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away for the Indians. Kovar finished with four RBIs on the night and Gigax followed with three.

The second seeded Indians now face No. 9 Port Clinton (7-13) in the Division II district semifinals on Wednesday, May 18th, at Genoa High School at 6:30pm.

DIVISION III SECTIONAL FINAL

Evergreen 3 Archbold 1

METAMORA – Both teams did all their scoring in the first inning as it was a pitcher’s duel the rest of the way with Evergreen edging Archbold 3-1 to win a Division III sectional crown.

Brooklyn Richardson held Archbold to just four hits in seven innings of work for Evergreen in getting the win.

No.5 seed Evergreen will take on No. 1 seed and state ranked Otsego in the Division III district semifinals on Wednesday, May 18th at 4pm at Springfield High School.

Hicksville 12 Montpelier 7

HICKSVILLE – Hicksville built a 10-3 and then had to hold off a Montpelier rally to get the 12-7 win at home.

Bianca Phongphiou, Kelsie Bumb, and Kaycee Humbarger each had two singles for the Locos with Humbarger and Phongphiou each tallying two RBIs.

FAYETTE – Edon totaled 17 hits and put the game away with six runs in the seventh as they ended the season with a 13-0 win at Fayette.

Ashley Kaylor was the catalyst for Edon with a 4-5 effort and two RBIs while Carlie Kiess and Natalie Wofford each had three hits.

Edgerton 13 Stryker 3

STRYKER –Corinne Cape doubled twice and knocked in five runs as Edgerton beat Stryker 13-3 in a regular season just a day after meeting in the sectional finals.

Cape was the winning pitcher for Edgerton as she worked all seven innings and recorded six strikeouts. Emmalee Fulk had two singles and two RBIs in the setback.

FAYETTE – It was a 22-hit night for the Bombers with 11 different players with at least one hit in a 29-1 non-league win at Fayette.

Kyler Sapp, Etan Steinke, and Konnor Prince each had three hits for Edon and Prince also racked up five RBIs.

METAMORA – The Vikings broke open a 0-0 game after four innings with five runs in the fifth and five in the sixth for a 10-0 walkoff win.

Hunter Vaculik dominated on the hill allowing just two Cadet hits in six innings while ringing up 15 strikeouts.

MONTPELIER – Hicksville collected 11 hits (all singles) and scored seven runs in the last two inning to pickup an 11-3 win at Montpelier. Jaxon Richmond had a double and two RBIs for the Locos.

BRYAN – Bryan used an eight-run offensive onslaught in the fifth inning to to take the lead on their way to a 12-8 win.

Carter Dominique was 3-4 with two runs knocked in for the Golden Bears with Ayden Pelz and Mikey Wolff also driving in two runs each.

HAMLER –The Bulldogs scored four runs in the first and three more in the fourth to get an 8-5 non-league at Patrick Henry.

Warren Nichols homered for Edgerton and winning pitcher Corey Everetts went 3-4 with a run batted in.

BLISSFIELD – Down 3-1 heading to their last at-bat, the Indians plated four runs to take the lead and held on for a 5-3 victory.

Will Sherman fired a complete game on the mound to earn the win and Ryan Marks led a balanced Wauseon offense with two singles.
