VARSITY SOFTBALL
Division II Sectional Finals
Wauseon 15 Sandusky Perkins 1 (5 innings)
Payton Albright went 3-4 with two home runs and four RBIs as Wauseon cruised to a sectional title with a 15-1 win over Perkins. The Indians had 12 hits on the night, six of them extra base hits, with Alexis Haury and Olivia Gigax also going deep while Haury and Jayli Vasquez also had three RBIs. Macee Schang allowed no hits and struck out 12 in her five innings of work. Wauseon (16-8) will now face Clyde (16-10) in the Division II district semifinals at Genoa on Wednesday, May 19th.
Bryan 5 Napoleon 1
Bryan had just two hits in the game as they capitalized on seven errors by Napoleon for a 5-1 win. Kaliee Thiel went 1-2 with an RBI and Delilah Taylor was 1-3 with an RBI. Bryan (22-3) will take on Lima Shawnee on Thursday, May 20th at UNOH in the Division II district semifinals.
Division III Sectional Finals
Lake 13 Swanton 5
Swanton jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning before Lake rallied with 11 unanswered runs to get the win at Swanton. Taylor Forrest went with 3-4 with a home run and three RBIs for Swanton and Rachel Waszak had three hits.
Eastwood 10 Archbold 4
Archbold (10-11) trimmed the Eastwood lead to 7-4 but the Eagles responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to wrap up a 10-4 win. Reagan Kohler, Ella Bowman, and Addison Ziegler had two hits each for the Bluestreaks.
Evergreen 7 Liberty Center 5 (13 innings)
Liberty Center rallied from a 4-1 deficit to force extra innings where the Vikings scored twice in the top of the 13th to get a 7-5 win. Jocelyn Schuster delivered the game winning hit for Evergreen with a two-run double in the 13th and Skylee Raker went 2-6 with five RBIs. Evergreen (14-8) will square off with top seeded Otsego in the Division III district semifinals at Maumee’s Rolf Park on Monday.
Regular Season
Montpelier 11 Stryker 3
The Locos bounced back from a 1-0 deficit by scoring 11 runs over the last four innings to knock off Stryker 11-3. Amy Prekop led the Montpelier (8-14, 8-3 in BBC) attack with a single, home run, and four RBIs with Alyssa Custer adding three hits. Emmalee Fulk topped the Stryker (5-10, 4-5) effort with three hits and two runs batted in.
Edon 27 Hamilton (IN) 1 (5 innings)
Allison Kaylor had five hits with six RBIs and Paige Briner added five hits and four RBIs to lead Edon to a 27-1 rout of Hamilton (IN). Emma Hickman added a double, triple and five RBIs for the Bombers.
Pettisville 13 Fayette 3 (5 innings)
Kenzie Rivera got the win in the circle for Pettisville (7-10, 5-7 in BBC) and went 3-3 at the plate with four RBIs to lead the Blackbirds to a 13-3 win over Fayette. Emma Leininger, Emersyn Sinks, and Kyla Berg each had two hits for the Eagles (0-15, 0-10) with Berg also knocking in two runs.
Edgerton 5 Wayne Trace 4 (8 innings)
A Wayne Trace run in the sixth inning tied the game 4-4 and forced extra innings but Edgerton would score one in the eighth to pull out a 5-4 win. Ella Miler paced Edgerton (14-12, 5-2 in GMC) with 2-3 game as she had a homer and single with Ashlyn Sleesman also going 2-3.
VARSITY BASEBALL
Antwerp 12 Hilltop 0 (5 innings)
Antwerp’s Luke Krouse and Hunter Sproles teamed up to toss a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 12-0 win over Hilltop. Raace Haynes singled to account for the Cadets (6-17) lone hit of the night.
Montpelier 9 Hicksville 4
The Locos tallied six runs in the sixth inning to pull away for a 9-4 non-league at Hicksville. Collin Crisenbery and Tylor Yahraus both were 3-5 on the night while Gavin Wurm and Ethan Marihugh added two hits apiece.
Tinora 10 Bryan 0 (5 innings)
Tinora scored in every inning as they beat Bryan 10-0 in five innings. Mikey Wolff, Clayton Rupp, and Colton Smith each had singles for the Golden Bears.
Toledo Central Catholic 4 Archbold 3
Archbold scored three runs in the fifth to cut the Central Catholic lead to 4-3 but were unable to get any closer. Brandon Taylor led the Bluestreaks (15-10) with a triple and two RBIs
