EDON (January 9, 2025) – Edon hit 62% of their shots from the floor while Briggs Gallehue and Kyler Sapp combined for 38 points to lead the Bombers past Stryker 62-47 in BBC action on Thursday night.

After Stryker struck first with an Owen Rupp bucket in the lane, Edon ripped off seven unanswered points as Sapp drilled a triple from the top of the key and added a bucket inside with Cohen Hulbert also scoring down low for a 7-2 lead.

Stryker turned to the long ball for a 9-0 run with Andrew Batterson hitting consecutive treys and then Rupp hit one from the left wing for an 11-7 Stryker lead.

Gallehue went 2/2 at the line to stop the bleeding and would hit a jumper from the top as the Panthers’ lead was trimmed to 14-13 after one quarter.

A Corbin Chrisman runner in the lane gave Edon the lead back briefly before Braylen Wickerham would connect from in front of the Edon bench to put Stryker back in front, 17-15.

Edon then engineered their largest scoring run of the night to give them a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.

Gallehue started it with nine straight points as he hit back-to-back three balls before turning in a conventional three-point play on a nice pass from Sapp for a 24-17 lead.

Sapp capped off the 11-0 surge by Edon with a steal and uncontested layup as Stryker’s Jacob Myers knocked down a triple to stop the run and bring Stryker to within 26-20.

Sapp would give Edon their first double-digit lead of the night with a field goal inside and then another steal and layup to push the lead to 30-20.

Stryker battled back to end the half with two William Donovan free throws and Wickerham with a three-ball from the corner as the Edon lead was 31-25 going to halftime.

The second half started with baskets by Hulbert and Sapp for Edon followed by two free throws from Donovan and a triple by Myers for Stryker (6-7, 1-1 BBC) to make it 35-30.

Edon then pushed the lead back to double figures at 42-30 thanks to a 7-0 spurt as Chrisman scored a quick five points and Gallehue added another bucket inside.

Stryker stayed within striking distance on a Wickerham baseline drive for two and a Donovan bucket before Edon closed the quarter with an 8-2 run ending with a Hulbert triple from the top of the key just before the horn for a 50-36 Bomber advantage.

Edon continued to stretch the lead in the fourth with a Gallehue layup after beating the Stryker full court press, Chrisman followed with a layup and Gallehue scored off an offensive rebound to give Edon an insurmountable lead at 58-39.

To go with the solid shooting performance, the Bombers forced 17 Stryker turnovers and owned a 15-10 edge on the boards.

Gallehue and Sapp had 19 each for Edon (6-5, 1-1 BBC) with Chrisman adding a dozen.

Stryker, who hit 10 three-pointers on the night, had two players in double figures led by Wickerham with 14 and Donovan tallied 13.
