BEST OF SHOW … Black Swamp Arts Center High School Invitational, Best of Show has been awarded to Jaden Kaullen of Bryan High School for her painting Leisure Day.
ARCHBOLD — The Black Swamp Arts Center is featuring its Annual High School Invitational exhibit through Thursday, April 16. The exhibit showcases works from students in grades 9-12 from 10 area high schools.
A closing and awards ceremony will be held April 16 from 7-8 p.m., honoring students whose work was selected for recognition. The event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
Jaden Kaullen of Bryan High School received Best of Show for her painting “Leisure Day.”

Following the invitational, a solo exhibit by fabric collage artist Joel Fremion of Fort Wayne will run from April 24 through June 5.
Fremion’s larger format paintings are created entirely with stitched fabric. His work is represented around the United States and he has received numerous awards throughout his career.
A meet-the-artist gathering is scheduled for Friday, May 1, from 5-6:30 p.m. The gathering is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided. Learn more at joelfremion.com.
The arts center will also be offering a new Member Exhibit, open to any member over the age of 18.
Memberships start at $35 and artists will be permitted to enter several works, which will be judged for awards. More details will be announced soon. For membership information, visit blackswamparts.com.
Another opportunity for area artists is the fourth annual Flair on the Square, a juried fine arts festival featuring live entertainment, culinary treats and a local fresh market in downtown Bryan.
The free outdoor event is held on the last Saturday in July. More information and applications are available at zapplication.org.
