Blakeslee Village Council met in a regular session on Wednesday, May 6 with council members Linda Muehlfeld, Brad Dahl, Robert Mohre, Nick Reed, and Shelly Cox in attendance with Virgil Green being absent.
Following the roll call and approval of minutes from the April 1, 2026, meeting, council addressed several properties that aren’t being maintained either by not mowing their yards, accumulating trash or having vehicles on vacant properties.
It was suggested the property owners or landlords are responsible for taking care of the problem in maintaining their properties.
Regarding the proposed speed radar signs, Cox told council that, according to Joann Luce of the Edon Area Foundation, the village needs to resubmit the application because it was never turned in last year. The application must be turned in by Aug. 1.
Cox said that Luce wasn’t saying if they were giving the village all the money, but they might give them a little bit of it. She said to give the application to Randy Mohre, and he will then give it to Luce.
Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn said the application needs to be redated, and there needs to be IRS documentation included with it.
Muehlfeld reported that 15 signs recognizing military veterans from Blakeslee, which were displayed throughout the village last year, will be put up again next week.
Dahl spoke with Mohre Electronics regarding the village’s siren system. They are going to search and see what records they could find about past service maintenance with the system.
Osborn gave the April financial report for the village with receipts totaling $2,428.32 and expenditures totaling $1,889.33.
Council then adjourned the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Next meeting is Wednesday, June 3 at 6 p.m.
