Blakeslee Village Council met in regular session on Wednesday, July 1. Council members were Brad Dahl, Linda Muehlfeld, Robert Mohre, Virgil Green, and Shelly Cox, with Nick Reed being absent.
Following the roll call by Mayor Eric Jenkins, the minutes from the June 3 meeting were approved.
The monthly financial report was also approved for June. Receipts totaled $2,206.85, and payments were $2,383.82.
Jenkins updated council regarding the village’s street sign replacement project. He said that he had contacted John Waterston of the Williams County Engineer’s Office. Waterston then referred Jenkins to Jeff Birky, also of the engineer’s office, about the project.
Jenkins gave Birky a list of the signs that needed to be replaced. The mayor then received an email from county engineer Todd Roth saying that he and Waterston were coming to the village to see what signs needed to be replaced or fixed.
He added that Birky will be obtaining a price quote for the signs. The village will be paying for the materials with the county providing the labor.
Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn, who was absent from the meeting, reported that the 2026 unpaid garbage bills have been sent to the county auditor for payment.
Osborn also sent a certified letter to a village resident regarding the removal of three vehicles from a property. The certified letter was sent out on June 18, giving the resident a 10-day compliance window that concluded on June 28.
Osborn wrote that information has been submitted to the Edon Area Foundation regarding the radar speed signs to be installed at both ends of the village. She also mentioned that the village is still waiting on an IRS form which is required.
Council member Brad Dahl reported on the village’s fire siren, saying a transfer switch involving the generator needs to be checked out.
He mentioned that Joe Sines, who owns a repair shop on County Road 9, is willing to come out and look at the generator, which he is very familiar with. Sines told Dahl that he does repairs involving battery-charged equipment only but doesn’t do anything electrical.
Council then adjourned at 6:32 p.m. Next meeting will be on Wednesday, August 5 at 6 p.m.
