BOYS WRESTLING: Archbold Dominates En Route To Tri-State Border War Championship

DEFIANCE (December 30, 2025) – Archbold dominated its way through the Tri-State Border War wrestling title as the Bluestreaks won the 47-team event on Monday and Tuesday, December 29-30 at Defiance High School’s “The Dawg Pound”.


Coach Cody Ruffer’s grapplers grabbed the gold with 225 points followed by Yale, Michigan (191), Eastside, Indiana (173.5), Defiance (154.5), Napoleon (143), Indian Lake (116.5), Anthony Wayne (106), Sycamore Mohawk (99), Eastwood (98.5), and Fremont Ross (87.5) rounding out the top ten teams.

Other area teams included Swanton who was 32nd (49.5), Evergreen was 34th (47.5) and Bryan was 43rd (18).

Archbold claimed three individual titles with freshmen Brenden Bosco (106) and Isaac Brown (132) and junior Ashton Stuckey (165) taking home individual championships.


Bosco improved to 22-1 overall with a 20-3 technical fall victory over Owen Bates of Van Wert in his finals match. Brown scored a 15-1 major decision over Logan Rhodes of Yale improving to 19-3 overall and Stuckey improved to 20-4 with a narrow 4-2 decision over Jackson Runyan of Taylor.

The Bluestreaks got three runner-up finishes from Brooks Miller (113), Ty Bosco (120) and Lars Soles (126).

Miller (16-7) dropped an 8-0 major decision to Hunter Meeker of Eastwood. Ty Bosco (18-5) fell to Braydon Studer of Tiffin Columbian in an 11-8 decision and Soles (9-5) was pinned by Mackey McClelland of Yale in 57 seconds.

Also placing for Archbold were Parker Bixler (18-5), who was sixth at 285 and Kayden Wellman (16-9) placed seventh at 144 pounds.


Other area place finishers were Swanton’s Exzander Borstelman (14-3) who was fourth at 106 pounds and Chase Godwin (16-7) placed fifth at 157 pounds. Evergreen’s A.J. Gleckler (16-8) edged Bryan’s John Haury (13-3), 2-1, in the seventh-place bout at 132 pounds.
