Brenda Jacoby (1940-2020)

Brenda Arlene Jacoby, 79, of Archbold passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Tuesday September 22, 2020. Brenda was born on October 6, 1940 to Harry E and Evelyn (Brown) Gates in Stryker.

She graduated from Stryker High School in 1958 and worked at the F&M State Bank in Archbold for a total of 35 years.   Brenda also worked at the Archbold Buckeye, Nafziger Ice Cream and most recently volunteered at FCHC Gift shop. She married Richard Jacoby in January of 1963 and they celebrated 57 years together.

Brenda’s pride and joy were her family, especially her 6 grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with family. Brenda was a member of West Franklin United Methodist Church for the past 52 years and was very active in service to the church.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Richard,  sons Jeffrey (Suzette) of Wapakoneta, Scott (Sheri) of Sylvania;  grandchildren Brandon (Sarah), Nicholas (Paige), Jason (Lauren), Alexander, Brian and Melissa; great granddaughter Mila Jacoby, brother Darrell Gates of Akron, brother-in-law Duane Trausch of West Unity, sister-in- Law Jo Ann Weiss of West Unity along with nieces and  nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and sister Vivian Trausch.

Visitation for Brenda will be Sunday, September 27 from 1-7 pm at Short Funeral Home Archbold, 500 North Defiance Street. Graveside service at 11:00 am on Monday September 28 at Archbold Cemetary

Brenda was very appreciative of the cards, visits and phone calls from her family and friends during the past few weeks.  The family would like to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness especially Pastor Christian Taylor and the staff of CHP Home Care & Hospice.

Memorial donations can be directed to West Franklin United Methodist Church or CHP Homecare & Hospice, Archbold.
