The Bryan Board of Public Affairs met on Tuesday, September 3rd at 5 pm. The meeting was called to order at 5 pm after the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll call was taken by Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Patrica Buda, all Board members were present, Chair Karen Ford, Vice Chair Annette Schreiner, board members Dick Long, Jim Salsbury, Bob Eyre, and Director of Utilities Derek Schultz and Power Plant Superintendent Jim Coressel.

The motion to approve the minutes of the August 20th meeting was made by Bob Eyre and seconded by Dick Long. There are no public concerns.

Next on the agenda was Resolution 20-2024 to authorize a transaction confirmation for an immediate delivery agreement with Ohio Gas Energy Services Company. The agreement was updated per Resolution No. 13 2019.

The current market conditions and winter weather circumstances have changed and the need to secure and store natural gas during peak demands.

Resolution No. 15 2023 authorized one-year transaction confirmation for delivery of gas reserves needed for BMU generation to protect the City in extreme winter weather conditions.

BMU and OGES wish to renew the transaction confirmation for an immediate delivery agreement under similar conditions under a three-year term. Resolution 20-2024 was motioned to approve by Salsbury and seconded by Long.

Next for discussion is Resolution 21-2024 to authorize an addendum to the firm gas transportation service agreement. BMU and Ohio Gas Company have been parties to arrangements for firm gas transportation services since 1995 where natural gas is delivered by Ohio Gas Company to BMU generators.

BMU and Ohio Gas Company both agreed to the terms of Resolution No. 14 2019 and the agreement has been amended to reduce the schedule of daily demand charges during the calendar year saving money for City of Bryan electric customers.

The Board of Public Affairs passed the resolution that the Director of Utilities is authorized to execute the special arrangement for the Firm Gas Transportation Service Agreement with the Ohio Gas Company.

Next up was the discussion of semi-monthly disbursements. Eyre motioned to pay the bills seconded by Schreiner.

For comments from the BPA staff Eyre and Long agreed that both resolutions passed will save money and be a positive action for the city. Schultz and Schreiner congratulated line worker Noah Landel for completing his AMP training.

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs meeting was adjourned at 5:15 pm the next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 17th at 5 pm.
