BRYAN CITY COUNCIL & BPA: Council & Public Affairs Approves Sale In Joint Meeting

SALE OF PROPERTY … Bryan City Council and Bryan Board of Public Affairs (BPA) met on Wednesday evening approving the sale of tax parcel 063-180-01-001.000 to Nihart Real Estate, LLC.

Bryan City Council and Bryan Board of Public Affairs (BPA) met on Wednesday, June 26th at 5:00pm. The joint meeting was held in the Bryan City Council Chambers within the Bryan Municipal Court.

Present at the meeting were: Mayor Carrie Schlade, John Lehner, council members Mary Leatherman, Richard Hupe, John Betts, Stephen Alspaugh, and Jim Kozumplik, BPA board members Dick Long, Karen Ford, Jim Salsbury, Bob Eyre, and Annette Schreiner.

The joint meeting was held in order to discuss two items: a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter a purchase agreement with Nihart Real Estate, LLC for the purchase of part of tax parcel 063-180-01-001.000, said part being known as the West 15 acres of the tax parcel, in the Bryan North Industrial Park, and an ordinance rescinding the authorization to sell certain property as set forth in ordinance no. 17-2024 and authorizing the mayor to enter into a purchase agreement with Nihart Real Estate, LLC for the purchase of part of tax parcel 063-180-01-001.000, said part being known as the West 15 acres of the tax parcel.

Both the Bryan City Council and the BPA motioned and approved the resolution and ordinance above as stated. Meaning that Nihart Real Estate, LLC is now in the position and is set to purchase the 15 acres located at the industrial park.

The set price for the purchase of the property is at a cost of $150,000. The future developments on the property would mean Nihart Real Estate, LLC would be creating 130 jobs in the next five years.

While there was some discussion about the route into and out of the property via trucks and traffic, those are not a primary concern at this time, and it was made known that moving ditches back and adding in right of way turns would not be an issue for the area.

The brief meeting was adjourned by all members at 5:13pm. Bryan City Council’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 15th at 5:30pm. Bryan BPA will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, July 2 at 5:00pm.
