The Bryan High School recently performed their version of the play “The Outsiders”. The show was held at the Art and Education Center, with showings held on November 15th and 16th at 7:00 p.m., and an additional showing on Sunday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m.
The Outsiders covers the story of a fourteen-year-old orphan named Ponyboy Curtis, along with his friends and family. Each of them are caught in a battle between rival gangs in a 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma setting. Ponyboy, being a member of the “Greasers” gang, experiences further struggle when his friend fatally stabs a rival “Socials” gang member.
Much of the violence that takes place in either the book or movie, takes place off stage for the musical, ensuring a more family friendly and high school environment.
The story was put together well by the cast, with tense situations also being expressed well by the actors actions. All in all, the cast and crew for the Bryan High School’s production of “The Outsiders” was done very well.
