The new Holdt Locker System at the Main Branch Library in Bryan has made an easy contactless way for patrons to reserve and pickup library books.
This system allows patrons to reserve books without coming into the Library. When one patron comes to the locker system to reserve a book, the system sends a trigger to the main branch to put a hold on that said book.
After the hold is on the book, the book gets put into a locker that when the patron comes to pick up the book is assigned specifically to them.
Each locker gets reserved by the patrons Library card and only opens up for that said card.
Once the locker closes after taking the book, it sends a signal to the main branch that the book has been “checked out”.
This locker system is located at the main branch under an awning for all weather days. The locker system has thirty-two lockers open for public use.
The motivation behind this project was Covid however, the project was delayed and has recently been opened for public use.
This system is available 24/7 giving patrons flexibility to how and when they pickup books.
The Bryan Library is hoping to expand this contactless pickup for other library branches and ultimately hoping to positively impact the community.
