The Bryan and Wauseon GameStop locations have permanently closed, marking the end of the video game retailer’s presence in both communities.
The Bryan GameStop, formerly located at 1243 S. Main St., confirmed through a Facebook post that its final day of operation was January 14th.
The store thanked customers for their support and time in the community. The Wauseon GameStop, located at 482 Airport Highway, also announced via social media that its final day open was January 7th.
The store similarly thanked customers as it closed its doors. Store signage has begun coming down, further confirming that the locations have permanently closed.
The shutdowns are part of a larger nationwide reduction in GameStop’s physical footprint. The company’s website now lists more than 470 locations across the country as closed or closing in January as the retailer continues to scale back brick-and-mortar operations.
A Toledo GameStop at Monroe Street Market is also listed as closed as part of the same wave of shutdowns.
The closures remove a long-standing retail option for video game purchases and trade-ins in both communities, marking a noticeable change for local shoppers who relied on the stores for in-person service.
