Evergreen High School proudly presented Disney’s High School Musical On Stage! Performances took place April 10 through April 12, bringing the beloved story of friendship, self-discovery, and breaking free from expectations to the stage for local audiences.
Set at East High School, the musical follows Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez, two students from very different worlds who find themselves drawn together after a chance meeting at a New Year’s Eve karaoke party.
Troy, the school’s star basketball player, and Gabriella, a gifted new student known for her academic talents, reconnect when Gabriella transfers to East High. While each is already firmly placed within the school’s social structure, the two quickly discover a shared love for music.
Their decision to audition for Ms. Darbus’s winter musical sends shockwaves through the school, challenging the long-standing boundaries between athletes, scholars, and performers.
Their unexpected audition is met with resistance, particularly from Sharpay and Ryan Evans, the drama department’s established stars, who are determined to keep the leading roles for themselves.
At the same time, Troy’s basketball teammates and Gabriella’s fellow academic competitors worry that their new interests will distract them from the big game and the scholastic decathlon.
As the story moves into its second act, Troy and Gabriella receive a callback for the lead roles, only to discover that the final audition is scheduled for the same day as the basketball championship and the science competition.
Tensions rise as classmates work to keep them from pursuing the musical, but the conflict ultimately leads the students of East High to recognize the importance of supporting one another’s passions.
In the end, the basketball team secures its championship victory, the decathlon team claims its win, and Troy and Gabriella earn the lead roles in the production.

The musical closes with a message that resonates far beyond the stage: true success comes from embracing who you are and encouraging others to do the same.
A job well done goes out to the entire cast and crew, whose dedication, talent, and countless hours of hard work were clearly reflected in every scene.
