Cadets Win, Lose Straight Sets

September 6th-WEST UNITY: Hilltop hosted Tinora and Bryan in a tri-match on Saturday. With two opponents coming to town, the Lady Cadets had a tough task defending their home court.

Hilltop’s first bout was with Bryan. The Cadets took control of game 1, winning the set 25-14. The second set was more competitive, with the Golden Bears making a run at Hilltop. The Lady Cadets fought back, however, taking the game 25-19.

Felicity Jackson served up 10 assists for Hilltop in the first match, along with 2 blocks and a dig. Lady Cadet Ariana Brown nailed 8 kills. Allie Schmitt had 6 kills, 3 digs, and 3 aces in the victory.

The second match of the day pitted Hilltop against Tinora. The Lady Rams provided fierce competition for the Cadets. The girls of Hilltop lost game 1, 17-25. The second set saw Tinora pull even further away, as Hilltop dropped the game 13-25.

Veronica Roth had 3 kills and 2 digs on the night for the Lady Cadets. Teammate Cierra Grant made 3 blocks, 2 kills, and 1 dig. Allie Shmitt had 5 kills.
