LEG DAY … Matthew Larsen of Ice Creations works on his latest creation in front of the Baldy’s Furniture and Mattress store in Wauseon. The leg lamp was originally brought to life in the movie A Christmas Story, which was adopted from a short story by Jean Shepherd. Here, Matthew works to put the finishing touches on his creation.

The fourth annual Christmas in Wauseon Ice Sculpting event has once again glazed over Wauseon. This year, the event brought some snow along for the ride as temperatures hovered around the 32–35-degree mark.

Compared to last year when things were a bit warmer, the temperature was a lot more friendly to the ice sculptures this time around.

Sponsored by the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce, the event features workers from Ice Creations out of Napoleon.

The company goes around to various businesses throughout town to demonstrate their ice carving skills. This year, the carvings were completed and showcased at 27 businesses.

The businesses showcased on Friday were Continental Plaza, Wauseon Chamber of Commerce, Wauseon Schools, Northwest State Community College, Aquatek Water Conditioning, Agua Fria Financial, Triangular Processing Inc, Baldy’s Furniture and Mattress, Edward Jones – Kim Baker, RSM Services, Root Salon and Spa, Wauseon Eye Care, Biggby Coffee, Gear Heads Garage LLC, State Bank, Job1USA, F&M Bank, Clearwater Systems, and Habaneros.

On Saturday, showcased businesses included Healthy Spot Wauseon, Passion 4 Fashion Boutique, Junk and Disorderly, Premier Esthetics, Black Swamp Boots, Red Rambler Coffees, Shaw’s Clothing, and Wauseon Ace.

During the Saturday showcases, The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who walked throughout the downtown and Shoop Avenue areas from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Each of the creations made were left out on display at the various businesses. This allowed for residents and customers to enjoy a little extra touch of the holiday spirit.
