The streets of Wauseon were alive with energy on Saturday morning, October 4, 2025, as residents gathered for the second annual Steps to Safety 5K.
The event, held at 120 E. Chestnut Street and organized by the Fulton County Domestic Violence Task Force, brought together runners, walkers, families, and supporters in a show of unity to raise awareness about domestic violence.
Timed by Dave’s Running, the 5K featured participants of all ages. Some chose to run the course with determination, while others walked together at a steady pace.
Families were well represented at this year’s event, with special pricing for children making it easier for parents to include younger participants.
The result was a diverse group moving together toward the same goal, reinforcing the message that awareness and support for survivors extends to every generation.
The 5K also carried significance beyond the morning’s activities. October is recognized nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the event served as a local reminder of the importance of safety and advocacy.
Proceeds from registrations and donations will support services, education, and outreach efforts across Fulton County, helping those impacted find resources and strength.
As the last participants crossed the finish line and the morning drew to a close, the sense of accomplishment was palpable.
The Steps to Safety 5K once again highlighted the power of community coming together, proving that every step taken can make a difference in the ongoing fight against domestic violence.
