Last week The Village Reporter publisher Forrest R. Church wrote a column concerning the newspaper considering expansion from once-a-week publication to twice-a-week, creating more local jobs.
Unfortunately, inflation increases concerning the price of newsprint along with two rate increases at the Post Office has placed the expansion that was set to start in October – December of this year on hold.
Congressman Robert E. Latta responded to last week’s column writing:
“Due to out-of-control inflation, Ohioans are paying more for just about everything. Even our local newspapers are experiencing significant price increases in printing and delivery costs.”
“Our media outlets here in Ohio provide valuable news coverage, and to lose these resources would be devastating to folks who rely on them to receive timely news and information about what is happening in their neighborhoods, state, country, and world.”
“It’s far past time to get inflation under control. To do this, we must be reining in reckless government spending, which has fueled the flames of this inflation crisis.”
