SWANTON (May 13, 2026) — The Swanton Bulldogs are moving on. Behind another explosive offensive showing, Swanton secured the Division V softball sectional championship on Wednesday night, mercy-ruling Bluffton 12-1 in five innings.
The Bulldogs wasted no time getting going. After back-to-back one-out hits in the first, Lacey Shinaver came around to score on a Bluffton miscue, giving Swanton an early 1-0 edge.
Both teams went down in order in the second, but the Bulldogs broke things open in the third.
Alexa Faber got it started with an RBI single to left, scoring Beyla Remer. Carli LaGrange followed with a two-run single to make it 4-0.
Moments later, Jordyn Ramirez delivered a devastating blow, a two-run homer to left that pushed the lead to 6-0.
Bluffton showed life in the fourth, as Macy Schaadt launched a solo home run to get the Pirates on the board. The Pirates later loaded the bases with two outs, but Remer shut the door with a strikeout to end the threat.
That proved to be Bluffton’s last real opportunity. Swanton responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, putting the game out of reach.
Back-to-back RBI singles extended the lead before Cara Ludlow ripped a two-run single with the bases loaded. A Bluffton error brought in another run, and Ramirez added an RBI to cap a six-run inning, stretching the lead to 12-1.
Remer handled the rest in the circle, closing out the fifth to secure the sectional title and punch Swanton’s ticket to districts.
