Northwest Township Trustees met on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. After calling the meeting to order, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Trustees Paul Green and Robert Kissinger II were present with Trustee Mary Gniewkowski joining later into the meeting, around 7:10 p.m. Treasurer Peggy Disbro, Fire Chief Doug Crawford, and community member John Seymour were also in attendance.
Trustee Kissinger motioned to approve the meeting minutes. Kissinger then motioned to approve the financial report. Green agreed to both.
Green then invited Seymour to address the trustees. Seymour simply wanted to thank the fire department and return their tarps. The tarps were used to try to protect his belongings during a recent fire run.
Chief Crawford arranged for Seymour to return the tarps. He then provided a brief update to the trustees, stating they had ordered a new basket-style stretcher. A recent fundraising gun raffle held by the fire department was successful, Crawford reported, though no figures were provided.
Crawford closed by reporting a few issues at the lake with burning out of hours. The burn ban is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the end of May, and no trash is allowable.
Road man Ed Mountz provided the board a handout, outlining upcoming proposed road repair work. After some discussion, approximately four miles of road were identified needing repair, including sections of N-30 and O-50. Kissinger suggested getting some stone price quotes before fully deciding on the exact repairs.
Green revisited a proposed brush machine purchase he recently brought to the trustees for discussion. Green explained that multiple attachments could be purchased for use. Kissinger was unsure and Green suggested they could go look at it. Kissinger agreed.
With no other business to discuss, Kissinger motioned to adjourn. Both Green and Gniewkowski agreed, adjourning the meeting at 7:23 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 26.
