BASCOM – (November 14, 2025) – Hopewell-Loudon ran for 224 yards, passed for 150, and added a score from their special teams in a 30-14 win over Archbold in the Division VI Region 22 semifinals.
Archbold’s opening possession ended in a punt, but the Jesse Schumacher kick was downed at the one-yard line, putting the Chieftains in a hole for their first series.
Following a pair of penalties against H-L, Brody Brickman ripped off a 54-yard jaunt to the Archbold 45-yard line to get the Chieftains offense rolling.
A mix of runs and passes moved the ball to the Archbold two-yard line where on third-and-goal, Brickman punched it in to cap off a 10-play, 99-yard drive.
Quarterback Jacoby Ellis would then toss a pass to Jack Colatruglio for the two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead with 2:55 left in the first quarter.
Hopewell-Loudon added a score early in the second quarter via their special teams. Colatruglio fielded a Schumacher punt at his own 25 and made some elusive moves down the right sideline to take it to the house for a 14-0 lead with 9:31 to go until halftime.
Archbold responded with an impressive nine play drive to answer. Two plays after a third down conversion pass by Maddox Pinter to Aranjer Krieger, Pinter found running back Ryder Ryan on a wheel route down the sideline for 38 yards to the H-L 16.
On first-and-goal at the five, Pinter scored off the right side on a quarterback keeper to get Archbold back in the game at 14-7.
H-L came right back with an 84-yard march, keyed by a 56-yard screen pass over the middle from Ellis to Brickman, to set the Chieftains up at the Archbold 18-yard line.
Kellen Frankart took things from there with a 12-yard run before going the final six yards on his next carry for the score and then grabbed a two-point conversion pass from Ellis to extend the lead to 22-7.
With 1:53 left in the second quarter, the Bluestreaks went to work with Pinter going 11 yards to Anderson Bentley and then Pinter scrambled up the middle for 22 yards to quickly move the ball to the Chieftains 33-yard line.
Pinter found Collin Short for another 13 yards and then connected with Morgan Harris on a 20-yard touchdown strike to trim the deficit to 22-14 with :31 left in the half.
Hopewell-Loudon opened the second half with the ball and methodically drove the ball in 11 plays, 10 on the ground, to the Archbold one-yard line where they faced a fourth-and-goal.
The Bluestreaks’ defense then came through with their biggest play of the night as they stuffed a Brickman run to turn the Chieftains away with 5:07 left in the third.
Archbold would get a first down following the defensive stop, but the possession stalled forcing a punt.
H-L would strike quickly, needing just three plays, as Ellis went 23 yards to Frankart, Brickman ran for eight, and Frankart fired a 26-yard touchdown pass to wide-open Brickman down the left sideline as the lead grew to 30-14 following the Chieftains’ two-point conversion.
Archbold had the ball twice in the final stanza looking to cut into the Chieftains’ lead, but both drives ended in a turnover on downs as Hopewell-Loudon (11-1) bled the clock to finish off the win.
Pinter finished 14 of 27 passing for 136 yards and also led the Archbold (9-3) in rushing with 63 yards on nine carries. Krieger was the top receiver with six catches for 77 yards.
Frankart ran 15 times for 97 yards to lead the Chieftains’ ground attack and Brickman had 90 on 12 attempts.
