Defiance Police Investigating Pedestrian Possibly Hit By Train

PRESS RELEASE – On January 15, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the Defiance Police Department responded to the Ottawa Avenue CSX railroad crossing in the vicinity of Douglas and Hopkins, to a report of pedestrian possibly being struck by a train.

Shortly after their arrival, a body was found. The identity of the deceased is pending notification of the family, and the autopsy report, being conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

The incident is currently under investigation. Assisting at the scene was the Defiance County Coroner’s Office, Defiance Fire and Rescue and the CSX Railroad Police.
