FEATHERED FRIENDS … Pike-Delta-York FFA member Addison Hogrefe teaches local students about her ducks during the chapter’s annual Ag Day.

The Pike-Delta-York FFA Chapter held its annual Ag Day event to teach local youth about farming. High school FFA members welcomed elementary and middle school students from the Pike-Delta-York Local School District to learn where their food comes from.

Each FFA member or group ran a different hands-on station to make learning about agriculture fun and exciting.

Many stations taught kids about crops, crafts, and caring for farm animals. Emmy taught kids how to make pipe-cleaner butterflies along with facts, while Abby, Hayes, and Zorn showed how soybean seeds grow.

Kelsi, Colt, and Willa brought horses, and Josh and David brought goats. Alex, Layton, and Ethan ran the chicken station.

Paige and Preslee brought rabbits, while Jordin and Braxton had kittens. Kids also got to visit ducks with Addison and Eve, and learn about dogs with Jayda.

Other stations used games and posters to teach important farming facts. Roman and Bentley ran an ag corn hole trivia game, while Aiden and Trevor had posters about poultry.

Claire and David taught kids about beef with their posters, and Olivia and Juleyanna used posters to teach about pigs. McCoy and Eddie shared facts using plant posters.

For games, Max and Aidan ran a “Feed the Pig” game, while Trevin and Jayden set up a milk jug toss. Dylan and Talon played a “Farm-O” Plinko game with the kids, Hunter and Carl showed how to milk a toy cow, and Jakub took photos of the whole event.

The final stations showed off large farm tools and machinery. Elwin, Greyor, and Spencer ran a mechanical station to show how machines work. Hunter, Brady, and Archer brought a 1973 John Boat to teach about fishing and water.

Jacob and Jensyn showed off a massive combine harvester used to cut crops, and Gracyn and Tyler taught the students about tractors.

Students also had the opportunity to learn from industry experts such as the Delta Police Department, Delta Fire Department, Bracy Gold Bison, and Elendt Honey.

The Delta FFA would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members, the local fire and police department, Bracy Gold Bison, Elendt Honey, and the teachers for making such a successful day happen.
