The Delta Village Council voted at its most recent meeting to block parking on one section of Main Street and allow parking in normally restricted areas during the upcoming Winterfest celebration.

Under the ordinance passed by the council, parking will be prohibited on Main Street from Wood Street to Adrian Street during the hours of 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.

From 2 to 7 p.m., parking will be allowed on the east side of Wood Street between Fernwood Street and Palmwood Street and on the east side of Adrian Street between Palmwood Street and Oakwood Street in order to alleviate the lack of parking on Main Street.

The ordinance was passed on an emergency basis, meaning the decision was final and no further votes on the measure will be needed.

OTHER BUSINESS

The council passed on final reading a measure to declare as surplus several firearms, tires, tire rims, and vehicles belonging to the police department and authorize their sale. The council passed on second reading without discussion its 2024 appropriations.

The council ended the meeting by going into executive session “to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual.” Mayor-elect Allen Naiber was included in the session, from which no action was expected to result.

The next council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 4.
