WALDRON– Dorothy Dean (Pearce) Bernath, 81, of Waldron, died early Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021 at The Hospice Center of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Dorothy was born January 7, 1940, in Southfield Michigan, the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Hughes) Pearce.

Dorothy was raised on a farm in Camden and graduated from Camden-Frontier High School in 1958.  She married Dale W. Bernath of Waldron Michigan on November 25, 1959, in her hometown of Camden.

She was a deeply devoted wife and loving mother, who was fastidious and quite a perfectionist.  In addition to spending time with her family, Dorothy loved to read, sew, quilt and make needlepoint artwork in her spare time.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and took great interest in the performing arts.

Dorothy also loved to take leisurely roadside day trips with her husband Dale.  She and Dale would regularly visit Amish Country towns throughout the tri-state area and frequent her favorite cute country shops with collections of arts and crafts.

Dorothy was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren; she just loved to brag about her children and grandchildren to just about anyone, even complete strangers.

In addition to her husband, Dale, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Gillette; and brothers, Mike, Frank, Glen and Victor.

Surviving are a son, Mark (Lucinda) Bernath of West Unity, OH; two daughters, Malinda (Vincent) Bernath-Simon of Pleasant View, TN, and Shelly Tengler of Beverly Hills, MI; five grandchildren, Rachel (Matt) Yoder, Lauren (Dan) Hurd, and Grant, Colin and Hunter Tengler; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Oliver and Wilbur Yoder, Marigold and Liam Hurd; a sister, Florence (Lyle) Hukill; and a sister-in-law, Donna (Lemieux) Pearce.

Cremation will take place, and due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, no public services are being planned for at this time.

Interment will be made at a later date in the Waldron Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Wagley Funeral Homes, Adrian Michigan.

Memorial contributions in honor of Dorothy are suggested to The Hospice Center of Northwest Ohio, the Wright-Waldron Fire EMS or a charity of the donor’s choice.
