Dorothy Jean Goldsmith, age 92, of Delta, peacefully passed away under hospice care at her home, early Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Toledo on June 29, 1930 to Francis Hoyt Sr. and Bessie (Earnst) Hoyt. Dorothy attended Liberty Center High School and married Herman W. Goldsmith on February 1, 1948 in Liberty Center.
Dorothy was a homemaker throughout her life, caring for her husband and three children. She and her husband alongside her brother-in-law and his wife, started Camelot West Estates mobile home park in Delta.
Dorothy was an active member at Wesleyan Church in Liberty Center for several years; where she enjoyed singing duets with Herman and singing with the choir.
Most recently she attended Westgate Chapel Church in Toledo. Dorothy was also a member of the Delta Eagles.
Some of her fondest hobbies included spending time with her husband dancing, golfing, fishing and mushroom hunting.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Donnie) Hyatt of Delta, Janet (Larry) Spiess of Delta and Julie (Steve) Schrock of Wauseon; sister, Vivian Hoover; 8 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Herman W. Goldsmith on June 3, 2015; brothers, Byron Hoyt, Leon Hoyt, Vernon Hoyt and Francis Hoyt Jr.; sisters, Genevieve Grambling, Valita Kamar and infant sister, Ruth Hoyt.
Friends will be received from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Delta Church of Christ, 500 Providence St, Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastor Verlin Rice will be officiating. Interment will be private for the family at Shiloh Cemetery in Delta at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to make memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 or the Delta Church of Christ in Dorothy’s memory.
