Edgerton 2020 Winter Homecoming Court Presides Over Huge Victory On January 11th

The halls of Edgerton High School were decked out for Homecoming Night on January 11. The 5-5 / 1-1 Battling Bulldogs were set to welcome in the 8-3 / 7-0 Blackbirds of Pettisville. While it looked like a mismatch on paper, the game was played on the hardwood of the Edgerton gymnasium, and with 2020 Winter Homecoming King and Queen Jaron Cape and Madison Smith and their Court presiding, the hometown boys recovered from an early deficit to hand their visitors a 52-38 beatdown.

The first Queen Candidate introduced this Homecoming Evening was Miss Ally Cape, Girls’ Basketball representative. Ally is the daughter of Luke and Tina Cape. She has one brother, Devin. During her high school career, Ally has been involved in Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Spanish Club, FFA, and National Honor Society. In her spare time, she enjoys long walks on hot coals alongside her friends Serina, Grace, Faith, and Madison. Ally’s favorite class is CCP Biology/Human Body and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Rendleman. After graduation, Ally plans on attending college to major in exercise science and continue her basketball career.

Her senior escort this evening was Mr. Chase Osmun, Student Council representative. Chase is the son of Darin Osmun and Julie Osmun. He has one brother, Drew. During his high school career, Chase has been involved in Track and Field, Football, Cross Country, FEA, Leader in Me, Spanish Club, the Inaugural Speech and Debate team, and is the current Student Council President.

In his spare time, Chase enjoys ice fishing in the summer, hosting the weekly apple-eating contests at lunch, and supporting the Bulldogs. His favorite class is AP Literature and his favorite teachers are Mr. and Mrs. Bales. After graduation, Chase plans on attending college at Purdue University or Central Michigan University with an unknown major.

The second Queen Candidate introduced was Miss Faith Herman, FEA representative. Faith is the daughter of Phil and Chris Herman. She has five siblings; Austin, Brandon, Cody, Devin, and Eric. During Faith’s high school career, she has been involved in FEA, Spanish Club, Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Leader in Me, and National Honor Society.

In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with #12 off the court, spending Saturday nights at Grandma’s house with her cousins, and enjoying long walks on hot coals alongside her friends Grace, Serina, Ally, and Madison. Faith’s favorite class is Anatomy, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Rendleman. After graduation, she plans to attend Purdue University Fort Wayne and major in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Her senior escort this evening was Mr. Elliot Roth, Spanish Club representative. Elliot is the son of Adam and Denise Roth. He has four siblings; Sarah, Greg, Nicholas, and Owen. During Elliot’s high school career, he has been involved in Cross Country, Basketball, Track and Field, Spanish Club, Class Officers, and National Honor Society.

In his spare time, Elliot enjoys watching The Great British Baking Show, reading nonfiction, and spending Saturday nights at Grandma’s house. His favorite class is Ceramics and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Bostater. After graduation, he plans on studying mechanical engineering at an undecided college.

The third Queen Candidate introduced was Miss Serina Imm, Cheerleading representative. Serina is the daughter of Doug and Tonya Imm. She has five siblings; Courtney, Mahryna, Alyssa, Heaven, and Zaine. During Serina’s high school career, she has been involved in Cheerleading, Softball, Spanish Club, and Miss Edgerton.

In her spare time, she enjoys long walks on hot coals alongside her friends Ally, Grace, Faith, and Madison. Her favorite class is CCP Human Body and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Rendlemen. After graduation, Serina will be attending the University of Toledo to pursue a traveling nurse career and eventually become a neonatal nurse.

Serina’s escort this evening was the 2020 Homecoming King-elect, Mr. Jaron Cape, Boys’ Basketball representative. Jaron is the son of Randy and Julie Cape. He has two siblings; Braydon and Addison. During Jaron’s high school career, he has been involved in Basketball, Football, Baseball, Spanish Club, and National Honor Society.

In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and watching Josh Apt’s Youtube (please subscribe). His all-time favorite class was AP Chemistry, but is currently Physics. His favorite teacher is Ms. Schaffner. After graduation, Jaron plans on studying civil engineering at an undecided college.

The fourth Queen Candidate was Miss Grace Nye, National Honor Society representative. Grace is the daughter of Tom and Bobby Nye. She has two siblings; Gunnar and Brandyn. During Grace’s high school career, she has been involved in Volleyball, Basketball Cheer, 4-H, Miss Edgerton, and National Honor Society.

In her spare time, she enjoys long walks on hot coals alongside her friends, Serina, Ally, Faith, and Madison. Grace’s favorite class is Independent study drawing, painting, and ceramics. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Bostater. After graduation, Grace plans on joining the U.S. Army Reserves and has undecided college plans.

Her senior escort for Homecoming Evening was Mr. Nolan Swank, FCA representative. Nolan is the son of Bill and Charlene Swank. Nolan has two siblings; Nathan and Ava. During his high school career, Nolan has been involved in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Spanish Club, FFA, FCA, and National Honor Society.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outside and being with his family and friends. Nolan’s favorite class is English and his favorite teacher is Mr. Miller. After graduation, Nolan plans on becoming an electrician.

The fifth and final Queen Candidate for this evening was the 2020 Homecoming Queen-elect, Miss Madison Smith, FCA representative. Madison is the daughter of Brent and Heather Smith. She has two siblings; Lauren and Taylor. During her high school career, Madison has been involved in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, FEA, FCA, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, and is Class President.

In her spare time, she enjoys long walks on hot coals alongside her friends Grace, Serina, Ally, and Faith. Madison’s favorite class is CCP Biology/Human Body and her favorite teacher is Ms. Schaffner. After graduation, Madison is planning on attending an undecided college majoring in Nursing with future plans to become a Nurse Practitioner or CRNA.

Her senior escort for this evening was Mr. Connor Thiel, National Honor Society representative. Connor is the son of Gregg and Melinda. He has one brother; Landon. During his high school career, Connor has been involved in Cross Country, Track, Basketball, Spanish Club, Class Officers, Catholic Heart Workcamp, Buckeye Boys State, and National Honor Society.

In his spare time, Connor enjoys running, playing euchre, gaming, and attending rock concerts. Connor’s favorite class is AP Literature with his favorite teacher Mr. Bales. After graduation, Connor plans on attending Trine University and majoring in Civil or Chemical Engineering.

The Kindergarten Attendants for the evening were Savannah Balogh and Oliver Vonalt.  Savannah is the daughter of Matthew and Rebecca Balogh. Her favorite color is the rainbow; her favorite books are princess books, and her favorite TV show is T.O.T.S. Savannah has three siblings; Blake, Logan, and Gabby.

Oliver is the son of Chad and Jamie Vonalt. Oliver’s favorite color is Army green; his favorite book is The Book With No Pictures, and his favorite TV show is Captain Underpants. Oliver has two siblings; Madalynne and Vivienne.
