PRESS RELEASE – The Village of Edgerton is inviting the public and stakeholders to participate in an open house public meeting to learn more about the pedestrian safety and connectivity improvements being constructed along many roadways within the village.
This project was recommended as part of a safety study performed in 2022 with a focus on Safe Routes to School for students near and enroute to Edgerton Local Schools. The project’s primary goal is to improve the safety of pedestrians throughout the Village.
Project Overview
The project will involve construction of approximately 19,500 linear feet of sidewalk along parts of 20 roadways within the village, five pedestrian-actuated protected crossings, improved pedestrian approaches to railroad crossings, high-visibility crosswalk pavement markings, and other safety features.
Minor property impacts are expected in certain areas and the Village has already begun or will soon begin notifying all property owners that may be affected. There may be minor and temporary impacts to certain utilities near the roadways.
The project is tentatively scheduled to be constructed in 2026 and is currently estimated at a cost of $2.5 million.
Funding for the project has been granted through several ODOT programs (Safe Routes to School, Highway Safety Improvement Program, and Transportation Alternatives Program), in addition to capital funds.
Public Participation
The Village values public participation and encourages feedback regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, or disability.
