EDGERTON BOARD OF EDUCATION: Col. Kevin Bigenho To Be Edgerton Veterans’ Day Speaker

The Edgerton Board of Education met on October 16, 2023 at 6 p.m. Present were members Lyn Bowsher, Amanda Giesige, Nick Hug, Robert Siebenaler, and Bill Swank, as were Superintendent Kermit Riehle, Treasurer / CFO Bill Blakely, Jr / Sr High Principal Ben Wilhelm, and Elementary Principal Brett Grieser.

The agenda for the evening was approved as presents, as were the minutes from the September regular meeting.

The treasurer’s recommendations were approved as presented, as were the superintendent’s -which included inter-agency agreements and provisional changes to board policies to comply with HB33.

Personnel recommendations were approved as presented, which included a 2-year contract with Crystal Miller as an assistant technology / testing coordinator.

Superintendent Riehle shared that Parent / Teacher Conferences will take place on October 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no school for students during that day.

The Veterans’ Day assembly will take place at 9 a.m. on November 10, with Col. Kevin Bigenho as the guest speaker.

There will be a 2-hour delay for students to allow for staff professional development on December 6, 2023 for ACT prep, and two flag donations were approved: a POW flag from Bob Witsaman, and an anonymously donated American flag.

The boys’ basketball game on January 6, 2024, versus Eastside at 324 North Michigan Avenue, will feature a “throwback theme,” and everyone is encouraged to come check it out.

Grants were awarded for the HVAC system and the I-Robot for the football field and painting.

The Edgerton Board of Education then adjourned, set to meet next at 6 p.m. on November 20, 2023.
