The Edgerton Village Council meeting on May 10 began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a prayer from Mayor Robert Day.

All six council members, Pam Wampler, Leslie VanAusdale, Jason Gruver, Chuck Wallace, Sharon Blinzler and Lance Bowsher, were in attendance.

In the first order of business, council approved the meeting minutes from the previous May 2 meeting.

Village administrator Dawn Fitzcharles gave the administrator report. Fitzcharles stated that many of the village’s capital projects have started at the same time.

There are two sewer projects currently going on, on Clarksville Street and in front of the library. Both projects are close to completion.

The trenches in both projects are being filled in with gravel and stone. When both settle, then they will be properly filled in.

In police matters, an ATV problem on Gearhart Street has been addressed. In the fiscal officer report, a motion to pay the bills was approved.

Next, council approved a letter of engagement with TAFT, to assist the village with the environmental matters of the Brownfield Remediation Grant.

Council then approved a letter of engagement with August Mack, to assist the village with the Brownfield Remediation Grant and act as the environmental consultant with the matter.

That was followed by council approving change order three, regarding the water tower rehabilitation project.

In the change order, a request was made to change the completion date of the project to July 1 and the project is expected to have everything completed by August 1. Fitzcharles stated that the project could be completed before then.

Fitzcharles said that the project is underway and is going well. The workers are working on the project five days per week and they are currently working on sandblasting and removing debris from the inside of the tower.

Next, council approved of the request to hire Sadie Walter for the intern program.

The village then approved Ordinance 1122, providing for a supplement to the 2023 annual appropriations, for new equipment that will help both firefighters and street department workers with lifting hoses.

Manually, a hose with no water in it alone weighs 100 pounds per 100 feet. This new equipment will prevent injuries.

Next, council approved Ordinance 2023-008. Here, with the approval, the village administrator can apply for Nature Works Funding, through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

There are also plans for funding for a disc golf course. There is enough money in the village budget to fund the project and just needed council’s permission, which was received.

The next council meeting is slated for Tuesday, June 6, at 7p.m. Council then voted to adjourn the meeting.
