The Edon Branch Library hosted a “Library Lock-In” event on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., inviting young readers in grades 3-6 to enjoy a night full of fun and imagination.

The “Lock-In” gave students the opportunity to explore the library after-hours, inviting them to see it like they never have before.

Filled with colorful decorations and welcoming atmosphere, it was a magical night to remember. Throughout the night, they were able to participate in several different educational and exciting activities involving music, crafts, puzzles, and more.

Amanda Rice, the branch manager, was excited to host the event. Though new at the Edon Branch, she showed her enthusiasm and encouraged kids and families alike to take part in all the different events the library had to offer.

She also mentioned how it is the first “Library Lock-In” ever held in Edon, and she hopes to include more programs like it in the future.

The eager 3rd through 6th grade students who attended started by making custom name tag necklaces, showcasing their artistic abilities.

They then ate delicious pizza and snacks, played games, such as hide-and-seek in the dark of the library, created unique DIY crafts, went head-to-head in trivia, sang along to their favorite Disney hits, won prizes, and solved puzzles in a library-themed scavenger hunt. Overall, the night was packed with many things to do!

The event was free and open to those in grades 3-6, with registration forms on the library website for families interested in attending.

Students enjoyed spending time with old friends and making new ones. The event had a successful turnout with many showing up for a night of fun, friendship, and adventure.
