(April 6th, 2015) – STRYKER: For the first three innings of the game, the Lady Panthers led in a defensive struggle against the visiting Lady Bombers of Edon. Then, in the fourth inning of play, Edon found their offense.

Unable to keep pace, Stryker fell to the Bomber girls 15-2.

After holding Edon scoreless in the top half of the opening inning, the Lady Panthers drew first blood with a 1 run effort. That 1-0 advantage stood firm for three innings of play. Then, in the top of the fourth, the Bombers struck. Bringing in 4 runs before going back on the defensive, Edon changed the complexion of the contest in an instant.

With the Stryker offense still stalled after scoring their initial run, the Lady Bombers continued to take advantage of their offensive renaissance. Tacking on another run to their total in the fifth inning, they expanded their lead to a 5-1 margin. Not content, Edon would rack up another 5 runs in each of the last two innings, with the Panther girls scoring just 1 more run in the bottom of the seventh.

Shalyn Mason, just a freshman for the Edon girls, played the game of her young career against Stryker. Hitting for 2 singles and a double, she knocked in 4 RBIs. Teammate Meghan Dunkle earned a trio of singles, which helped to bring home 2 RBIs. Senior Alex Kiess hit a 2 RBI double for the Bombers.

For the Panthers, Miranda Pegorch had a strong showing. The Stryker girl brought in an RBI off of a double. Miranda Maynard, another Lady Panther, hit for a pair of singles. Teammate Emily Shindledeeker accomplished the same feat as well, making it to first base twice.

Kaitlin Chrisman was awarded the victory for the Bombers. While on the mound, the senior pitching ace gave up 1 run on 6 hits.

Maynard had a bit of a rougher outing on the mound. While she did pitch a complete game, the sophomore also gave up 15 runs on 14 hits. Maynard did strike out 2 edon batters, walking 2 others.
