Eight Members Receive State FFA Degrees
The Edon FFA Chapter set a new chapter record by having eight members receive their State FFA Degrees at the Ohio FFA Convention on May 6, 2016. The state degree is the highest award the Ohio FFA Association can bestow upon its members and is only awarded to less than 2% of FFA members. To earn this degree, members had to have a high quality supervised agricultural experience program, exhibit superior leadership skills within their chapter and maintain high academic records. Members that received their degree were Levi Brandt, Evan Fisk, Preston Klingler, Carley Muehlfeld, Hayden Runyan, Paige Schaffter, Samantha Trausch and Jordan Winebernner.
Fisk And Wortkoetter Honored With Officer Awards
Each year the state recognizes chapter officers that complete officer books with gold, silver and bronze rankings. Evan Fisk, Edon FFA Reporter, completed a chapter scrapbook detailing the events of our chapter over the past year. He received a gold rating and received a pin for his efforts at the Ohio FFA Convention. Crista Wortkoetter, Edon FFA Secretary, also completed her book with our chapter roster, correspondence and minutes from meetings. Her book received a perfect score and a gold rating. Crista was also awarded a pin at convention for all her hard work.
Winebernner Honored For Grain Merchandising
Jordan Winebernner was also an award recipient at convention this year for placing 1st high individual in the Grain Merchandising CDE. Over 240 FFA members participated in the competition at the state level. Following an online exam, judges in the agricultural industry interviewed the top ten individuals, and Jordan earned first place. He received his plaque for his efforts on stage at the convention. Congratulations Jordan!
Four Members Perform In State Music Programs
The Edon FFA was proud to have four members represent our chapter in the Ohio FFA State Band and Choir this year at the State FFA Convention. Evan Fisk, Emily Fox and Naomi Hickman were all members of the State FFA Band that performed at the convention in front of over 8,000 people. Evan and Naomi played in the percussion section, while Emily played trumpet. Crista Wortkoetter also performed during convention sessions as part of the State FFA Choir, in addition to competing as one of ten individuals in the State FFA Talent Show. Great job to these members on their outstanding performances!
