EDON – After 46 seasons on the sidelines, Edon football head coach Bob Olwin will be joining an elite club next year.
Olwin was announced last week as one of the six members of the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
“When I found out I was going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, I was excited and relieved to have been chosen,” said Olwin, who will be officially enshrined on June 12, 2026.
“It is an honor to be recognized and to be a part of a select group of amazing coaches who dedicated their lives to the sport and to coaching young men.”
Along with his five seasons at Edon, Olwin has coached at Antwerp, Mechanicsburg, Tiffin University, Tiffin Calvert, Ridgedale, Fairview, Versailles, Lake, Ada, compiling a record of 250-81.
Along with his time as a head coach, Olwin served an offense coordinator at Tiffin University in 2018 and was the offensive coordinator at Fairview during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
“I put hours into each week. My work ethic, and understanding I have to be a student of the game, continuously learning about the sport,” said Olwin when asked about his keys to success over the years.
“I’ve adapted to the kids and changes in society. I continue to have the desire to put in the long hours needed to prepare each week. I have had good players, coaches and community support along the way,” he added.
His teams at Edon have made the playoffs five times, including in 2021 when they advanced to the regional semifinals in Division VII and won the program’s first-ever TAAC championship.
