The Edon Village Council met on December 16th, 2024, at 7:00pm to hold their last meeting of the year. The meeting first began by reciting the pledge of allegiance and was followed by roll call.

All members of the council were present for the meeting. Financial reports and bills were passed. The village offices will be closed December 25th and 26th for the Christmas holiday, giving village employees time to spend with their families.

Tom Szymczak, the Edon Chief of Police, shared that the department led Kenneth Lyons’ memorial escort in conjunction with the fire department. He also attended Coffee with the Commissioners which went great.

Szymczak also went to the “Cops with Kids” event at Walmart on December 14.

The public works report mentioned that the village will be finalizing leaf pick-up and getting ready to begin snow removal. As for old business, a second reading took place of Ordinance 09-24, allowing UTVs within village limits.

Moving on to new business, Ordinance 10-24 was passed, which repealed an existing section and enacted section 9-25-01, setting forth user rates for the village sanitary sewer system.

Lastly for new business, the Thompson Representation Agreement was suspended until January 2nd, 2025. The meeting adjourned at 7:12pm.

The council’s next meeting is a special meeting that will be held January 2nd at 7:00pm. The next official public meeting will be held January 20th at 7:00pm.
