Soon to be inducted into the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Bob Olwin has announced his resignation as head football coach at Edon High School.
Olwin, who has been with the Bombers’ football program for the past six seasons, compiled a 45-22 record including five Division VII state football playoff appearances during his tenure and winning the former Toledo Area Athletic Conference title in 2021.
Besides coaching at Edon, Olwin has either served as head or assistant coach at Antwerp, Mechanicsburg, Tiffin Calvert, Fairview, Versailles, Millbury Lake, Ada, Ridgedale and Arlington high schools. He also served as an offensive coordinator at Tiffin University.
Known for utilizing a pass-heavy spread offense and maintaining a high-energy, strategy-driven approach to the game, Olwin will now be taking his philosophy to Lima Shawnee, where he has been named the next head coach.
In 40-plus years as head football coach, Olwin has compiled a 259-82 record for a winning percentage of .759.
Last fall, Olwin guided Edon to a 9-3 record, losing to Lima Central Catholic 49-7 in the second round of the Division VII state football playoffs.
