North Central Local Schools recognized Mr. Eric Moreland as the latest recipient of the Golden Eagle Award, presented by the Pioneer Police Department to honor staff members who go above and beyond their normal duties.

The award was presented by School Resource Officer and Sgt. Stephanie Mills during a lunchtime presentation at the school.

Moreland was recognized for his professionalism and his extensive contributions as the Transportation Director and Head of Maintenance.

Sgt. Mills highlighted Moreland’s critical role during recent winter weather, noting that he regularly heads out early during inclement conditions to check road safety for buses and students.

Mills also shared instances where Moreland personally stepped in to ensure student safety, including driving a bus himself during deteriorating weather conditions.

Along with his team, he has spent long hours plowing, salting, and preparing school grounds. He has also served as a reliable point of support for transportation issues throughout the district.

Fellow staff members praised Moreland’s willingness to assist staff and students alike, from helping implement classroom technology to supporting transportation logistics.

Sgt. Mills noted that while many of his contributions happen behind the scenes, they play a vital role in keeping the district running smoothly.
