The Evergreen Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, March 21st. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The board first moved to approve the minutes for the previously held meeting that took place on February 22nd followed by approval for the February 2022 financial reports.

Donations in the amount of $100 to the student assistance fund, $500 from the Fulton County Cattle Feeders Association to the FFA, and $1,000 from Fulton County Ohio Means Jobs to the class of 2023 were then approved.

Appropriation modifications were also approved and included the following. Increased food service for $175,000 and $5,000 for an increased STEM grant.

Board members also accepted the amount and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorized the necessary tax levies to certify to the County Auditor for FY23.

Numerous personnel recommendations were then approved as well as a three-year Negotiated Agreement between the Evergreen Local Board of Education and the Evergreen Education Association (EEA) as recommended by the Board’s negotiation team and ratified by the association.

This agreement includes a .03 (3.00%) increase on the base salary in 2022 – 2023, a .025 (2.5%) increase on the base salary in 2023-2024, and a .02 (2%) increase on the base salary in 2024-2025.

It also provides a cap for future insurance premium increases to limit the employer’s share of the cost to provide health, vision, and dental insurance.

Existing policy revisions were then approved before then moving on to approve the continued participation in the OHI (Optimal Health Initiative) Charter Workers Compensation Group Rating Program for the 2023 calendar year.

The board also moved to allow the district to enter into a Single Case Agreement and Funding Authorization with Youth Villages, Inc. for the sole purpose of providing educational services to an Evergreen student. Student services will be at a per diem rate of $125.81.

Board members also moved to enter into a service agreement with Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center LLC. Mercy will provide athletic training services, which will be provided by certified athletic trainers. The agreement begins on August 1st, 2022 and continues for three years unless terminated.

The cost for these services is $13,875.00 annually. Board members then discussed updates regarding the locker room renovation and expansion and other issues.

It was decided to hold a public forum this Spring regarding potential changes to the school’s drug testing policy.

The board then moved to enter into executive session. Upon returning, the meeting was adjourned for the evening.
