Evergreen BOE Look Forward To EHS Locker Room Renovation & Expansion

The May 17, 2021 BOE meeting at Evergreen was held in the HS Loren Pennington Learning Center at 6 pm with eight visitors present. The Board conducted the following business:

-Authorized the Superintendent and Treasurer to accept the lowest, best bid for the EHS locker room renovation and expansion Project from Midwest Contracting, located in Holland, Ohio

-Approved minutes of April 19 meeting and Financial Reports for April 2021

-Accepted $100 anonymous donation to the Student Assistance Fund and $200 from Stephen Ford to the Jennifer Ford Babcock Scholarship Fund


-Approved the increase of County Auditor and State Tax Department fees in the amount of $120,000

-Approved the Five-Year Forecast to be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education by May 31, 2021.

-Approved the following bond and note interest payments due June 1, 2021: General Obligation Bond – $35,117.04; Classroom Facilities Improvement Bond – $12,757.50; HB264 Energy Conservation Bond – $10,550.25


-Offered the following supplemental contracts for the 2020-2021 school year pending completion of all pupil activity permit requirements or the completion of any/all certification and/or licensure requirements. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy. Peyton Pawlaczyk – Track, Assistant Coach; Aaron Schmidt – Track, Assistant Coach; Katie Pierce – Department Head, Special Education

-Approved the following staff members to provide summer school instruction and summer preschool screenings on an as needed, hourly basis per the negotiated agreement. Assignments will be made by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy. EES: Kelly Carmean, Sarah Frankenfield, Diane Pickering, Nicole Zeigler, Sheri Call, Allison Hartnett, Ellie Willitzer, Amber Hansel (sub), Amber Doble, Shannon Leu, Tori Wright, and Alex Fitch (sub); EMS: Heather Christensen, Steve Marks, Jessica Root, and Matt Seifert

-Offered the following teachers limited teaching contracts, effective with the start of the 2021-2022 school year. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy and agreements, with work assignments delegated by the Superintendent. One Year: Shane Bergman ,Kristi Hennessy, Natalie Miller, Diane Pickering, Danielle Urbanski, Heather Christensen, Jillian Hergenreder, Adrian Meier, Jessica Root, Hannah Vaughan, Tori Wright Sharon Lapitsky, Abby Pennington, Luke Rosen, and Elizabeth Willitzer. Two Year: Danette Setmire. Three Year: Doug DeSloover, Nelson Holliday, Sarah Frankenfield, Andrew Langenderfer, Andrea Hesson, and Nicole Zeigler.

-Offered the following employees a one-year limited non-teaching, non-bargaining unit contract, commencing on July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy and agreements. Megan Ansted, District Attendance/Student Outreach Officer; Betty Bieber, Assistant Treasurer; and Jennifer Conrad, Director of Communications


-Offered the following employees non-teaching continuing contracts, effective at the start of the 2021- 2022 school year. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy and agreements, with work assignments delegated by the Superintendent.

Jennifer Burghardt, Secretary; Sheila Natter, Custodian; and Ashlee Ricker, Bus Driver

-Offered Derick Stoup, Athletic Director, a two-year administrative contracts, effective August 1, 2001. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy and agreements, with work assignments delegated by the Superintendent.

-Offered the following employees three-year administrative contracts, effective August 1, 202. All other pay and benefits will be according to Board adopted policy and agreements, with work assignments delegated by the Superintendent. Brady Ruffer, Middle School Principal; Kristy Schmidlin, Special Education Coordinator; and Dolores Swineford, Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum Coordinator.

-Approved supplemental contracts and volunteers for 21-22 , pending the completion of all pupil activity permit requirements, for sports leadership.

-Offered supplemental contracts for 21-22 for forty academic positions

-Approved additional and extended days for 21-22 for four employees

-Approved the classified and certified substitute lists provided and maintained by the NwOESC throughout the 2021-2022 school year.

-Approved the substitute teacher and classified substitute reasonable assurance of employment list for the 2021-2022 school year.

-Approved Jason Miller as a Volunteer Varsity Assistant Football Coach for 2021-2022, pending the completion of all pupil activity permit requirements.

-Approved the granting of high school graduation diplomas to the members of the Class of 2021 on May 23, 2021, pending their successful completion of all graduation requirements as determined by the high school principal.

-Authorized membership in the OHSAA for EHS and EMS for the 2021-2022 school year. The Board agrees to conduct their athletic programs in accordance with the constitution, bylaws, regulations, interpretations, and decisions of the OHSAA.

-Approved to contract with the Fulton County Health Department to provide school nurse services for Evergreen Local Schools for the 2021-2022 school year at an annual cost of $17,853.00, payable by December 31, 2021.

Discussion and Information items included Food Service Provider Status, the 21-22 School year and Drug Testing Policy.

It was then moved to go into Executive Session to prepare for negotiations or bargaining sessions with employees concerning compensation and other terms and conditions of employment. With no action, the meeting adjourned.
