PRESS RELEASE – Evergreen FFA attended the 98th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana October 28-31st.

Evergreen FFA members attended the national convention alongside 70,000 other FFA members and guests from across the United States.

During the first two days, members toured Jungle Jims, Louisville Slugger’s Museum, and Churchill Downs located throughout Ohio and Kentucky.

At Jungle Jims, the members were able to experience and shop for different foods from cultures all around the world.

The second stop was at the Louisville Slugger Bat Museum, where members witnessed the process of making the iconic bats and how the bats are truly reliant on the forestry industry. At Churchill Downs, members observed the racetrack.

On Wednesday evening, the FFA chapter attended the National FFA Rodeo. Members had the opportunity to watch different events and unique talents while in attendance at the rodeo.

On the third day of the convention, members were able to attend the opening session of the National Convention. The chapter was able to hear an inspiring message from the keynote speaker A’ric Jackson.

Jackson spoke about how not to be scared of your box and to always give 110%. Members had the opportunity to see Evergreen FFA Member, Molly Elvey play the French horn in the National FFA Band. She was the only FFA member from the state of Ohio selected to play in the National FFA Band.

During the career show and expo, students walked around the Indiana Convention Center and had the opportunity to network with agricultural companies and universities.

Members talked with various colleges from around the 50 states who have great agricultural programs. FFA members also attended student workshops where they learned about important life skills.

On Thursday evening, the chapter traveled to the Ohio FFA Buckeye Bash at Kelsay Farms near Whiteland, Indiana. There were FFA chapters from all across Ohio.

Members seized the opportunity to meet fellow members from other FFA chapters. On Saturday morning, the Evergreen FFA chapter departed from the hotel.

Evergreen FFA would like to thank Elvey Farms and Chris Johnson Trucking for sponsoring travel jackets for our FFA members and thank you to Cathleen Elvey for chaperoning the trip.
