Fairy F. Riter, age 80, of rural Stryker, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, April 20, 2020. She was born on December 24, 1939 near Stryker to Calvin F. and Louella (Clark) Riter. Prior to her retirement she had worked at many local businesses, including Sauder Woodworking, Spangler Candy Company, Defiance College, Jacoby’s Ole Smokehouse, Perfection Finishers and the Ferro Corporation.

She was very active in the Williams County Community Theater, the Archbold Community Theater, and the Ohio Community Theater Association.

She was well known for her knitting and cooking skills and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. She loved reading, plants, vegetables, and cats. She especially loved her children and grandchildren. Fairy was an extremely frugal but generous soul. Fairy always offered sage advice for those who would seek it.

Fairy leaves behind her children, Jessica Baltosser of rural Montpelier, Jason Baltosser of Stryker, her sister, Connie Murray of Lakeland, Florida, her brother, Phillip Riter of rural Stryker, her grandchildren, Hanna Baltosser and Jordan Baltosser of Stryker, and life partner of 30 years, Mitchel Rutledge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter-in-law, Laurette Baltosser.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, memorial services will take place at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to your local NPR station.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker has been entrusted with arrangements.
