Faye Carpenter (1920-2018)

Faye L. Carpenter, 98, of West Unity passed away Saturday evening at Hillside Country Living in rural Bryan.  She was born on March 17, 1920 in Lenawee County, Michigan to Pearly and Mabel (Wyse) Pike.  Faye graduated from Adrian High School in 1938.  She married John J. Carpenter and he preceded her in death July 28, 2000.

Faye was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church in West Unity, and formerly a member of the Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church in Wauseon.  She was a homemaker and taught Sunday School for many years.  Many years ago, Faye had a fulfilling experience spending a year at the Torreon Missionaries in Cuba, New Mexico.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Jean Frantz) Carpenter of Bryan, John (Barbara) Carpenter of West Unity, Walter (Rose) Carpenter of Edgerton, Douglas (Paula) Carpenter of West Unity and Connie (Jim) Schlatter of Delta; 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; a brother Delmer (Vera) Pike of Wauseon, and one sister in-law Ruby Pike of West Unity.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Jalene Carpenter, a son Lynn Carpenter, four grandchildren Jason Edward Schlatter, Misty Dawn Carpenter, Jennifer Miller and Chasity Carpenter, one great great grandchild Benten Carpenter, three sisters Lola Ruth Vaughn, Donna Fike and Larena Carpenter, two brothers Lowell Pike and Wayne Pike.

Visitation for Faye will be on Tuesday, October 9 from 3-8 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier.  Services will be on Wednesday at 11 am at the West Fulton Dunkard Brethren Church in Wauseon with Bob Carpenter to officiate.  Interment will follow at Tedrow Cemetery in Wauseon.  Memorial contributions may be given to Torreon Navajo Missions.
