The Fayette Village Council Meeting began at 6:00PM with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, approval of Agenda and Minutes.

Memorial Weekend Fayette Community Garage Sales (May 27- 29, 2021): village residents who would like to be listed on the Garage Sales’ Map you will need to sign up at the village office no later than Tuesday, May 25th by 5:00PM.

Maps will be available for pick up on Wednesday, May 26th (The Memorial Weekend Community Garage Sales is sponsored by the Fayette Community Development Corporation).

The Administrator’s Report covered topics such as Pending Projects which included the Employee Handbook. Councilman, Chris Meeker voiced concerns that only a portion and not the entire handbook had been passed.

It was noted that updates still needed to be made and Councilwoman, Kimberlee Priestep suggested that a PDF of the handbook could be sent out to council members where each member could make suggestions for updates and corrections.

It was also noted that once updates and corrections were made that the handbook would then go to Governmental Affairs and that this would take place before Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Other Pending Projects included Water Rate Evaluation, US 20/E. Main Storm Sewer Project, Water Distribution System Project Planning, and Splash Pad. Also, CARES ACT Local Government Assistance Program, and Total Technology Upgrade.

The Utility Billing Website Payment Portal now runs through XpressPay. The customers using the online ACH option will see a different look when making a payment along with a fee. The ACH link was posted to the Village website on April 22, 2021.

The Water Distribution System Project is concentrated on the distribution system replacements and upgrades. A meeting took place with Arcadis (engineering and sustainable design consultants) to evaluate the entirety of the project.

A tentative meeting in May is scheduled with Arcadis and RCAP (Rural Community Assistance Partnership) to further evaluate planning and cost.

Cemetery Board Appointments: at least 2 trustees are needed in attendance for the first council meeting on May 12, 2021 at 6:00PM for the Cemetery Board Elections.

Abigail Bieber was renewed last year, by elected officials, for a 3 year term which started on January 1, 2021. A Trustee Board Member seat is up for election this year in Gorham Township.

Reading of Ordinances and Resolutions
Second Reading of Ordinance 2021-06: An Ordinance Authorizing a Cooperative Agreement for Planning of a Water Project between the Village of Fayette and the OWDA (Ohio Water Development Authority).

Legislative Actions

A Motion to adopt Travel Expense Reimbursement Policy was passed at $60.00 per day by the council.

Council passed a Motion to allow employees to use COVID wages rather than sick time to get a COVID vaccination.
